The Value of Email Subscribers

Anyone who has ever done any sort of Internet Marketing has heard about the power of email subscribers. It is true that signing people up to an email list is an important part of many successful marketing campaigns, but this is really just the beginning. There is a big difference between a random list of email addresses and a highly responsive list of targeted email subscribers.
When building any type of email list it is essential to know that quality is far more important than quantity. A list of 100 targeted and responsive email addresses with whom you've built a relationship is far more valuable than a list of 10,000 email addresses that don't know who you are or why they should listen to you. This is why one of the most important skills any internet marketer can learn is how to build a highly responsive list and how to gently, but convincingly convert those email subscribers into a source of regular income.
Most successful lists start by offering people with some sort of incentive to give you their address. It could be a free report (also known as an e-book) or access to an exclusive section of a web page, or just about anything else. What is successful in one niche might not work in another so make sure you are creating the right incentives based on your target audience. Research a bit and do your homework. Many Internet marketers neglect this "homework" and end up with a non-responsive email list that continually loses interest and has daily "un-subscribes" (folks leaving the list).
Once you have your list of email subscribers (not that this task should ever end - always keep building), don't betray their trust. A good list is an extraordinarily valuable asset and if you don't treat it well, they will quickly unsubscribe or become unresponsive. Build up the trust by providing them with ongoing information that they will find extremely valuable. Take the time to build the relationship up so when they see your address in their inbox they are excited to open it.
Once you've gotten to this point you can begin sending them different offers of things to purchase from time to time. These could be affiliate products or products which you've created yourself. Each niche will respond best to different types of things, but once you know what the email subscribers on your list responds best to, you can have regular income for years to come. Be sure the offers you send are indeed valuable. Ask yourself this question: Is this something "I" would buy? (If you haven't purchased the product or service already.)
Even after building the trust, however, you want to make sure you're not always sending offers to buy things or they will eventually get tired of seeing your name in their email box. Instead, mix your emails with a generous amount of valuable information, gifts and resources. Also include great informational emails which may have a link to an affiliate product that perhaps they can earn an income from, but don't over sell it. Make sure your emails look, feel and read very naturally so your readers don't feel like you're just another salesmen. Type your messages as if you were talking to them in person.
Take your time to write your emails and not simply use generic sales copy. This is how you will stand out from the rest. Be personable and show you care. And, don't be afraid to write! Once you begin writing, it will become easier and easier. Pick a niche you enjoy and have some knowledge of and discuss topics that you enjoy talking about. Then, just begin writing. Don't allow yourself to be overcome by this thought or that and get side-tracked. It's much better to allow your thoughts to flow and adjust grammar or structure later.
When you're looking to build a responsive list of great followers who will trust your recommendations, it is essential that you take your time and treat them right. High quality, responsive lists often take months or years to build up, but in the end there are few things as valuable as a great list of email subscribers to a high quality internet marketer.
