Make Money While Being A Mom First

By Mattie Knight

Being a parent is an important job and one which you want to do right. However, raising a family is expensive, and having both parents bringing in money is very helpful. Knowing how to make money while being a mom or a dad without sacrificing time and energy spent on family affairs is something many people are interested in today.

The other option is for both parents to work outside the home. Many families choose this route; often both mom and dad have full-time employment. It's also possible for one parent to work days, another nights. Of course, the sacrifice of family time is obvious with either scenario.

There is really no need for a mom to give up staying home to keep the house and the children in order. One tried and true option is to care for one or more children that are not your own while their parents are at work. Many parents prefer private daycare to a pre-school that may have dozens of children. This kind of work is confining, since from eight to five you'll probably be doing nothing but childcare, but so is any job. After all, you can't run out to the grocery store while you're working in an office.

The computer age offers different opportunities to stay-at-home parents. Buying and selling online is one way people earn thousands of dollars yearly. This can be fun, if you enjoy shopping and are informed on the value of things people will buy. In addition, there is no costly commute, no need for extra clothes suitable for the office, and no daycare or after-school expenses for your own children.

Posting a popular blog is another way to generate income online. A blog with lots of visitors will attract advertisers who will pay for each hit on their link. Other sites pay a commission on those who click onto their site while reading yours. Successful bloggers can get paid for coaching others to similar rewards.

Entrepreneurs set up websites that use skills they would otherwise use in the public marketplace. Fitness experts can offer virtual coaching, talented sewers or knitters can sell patterns, crafters can sell completed projects or guidelines for those who want to do it themselves. Homemakers market goat's milk soap or body lotions they manufacture in their kitchens. Gardeners sell seeds and plants. The possibilities are endless.

Freelance writing is another thing many people do 'from the privacy of their own home'. There are sites that pay for routine articles and those that solicit high quality work from proven writers. Some of the less demanding work doesn't pay very much, but it's fun for someone who may be missing adult conversation or who likes writing. Heck, it can be used for typing practice.

As in any other line of work, some succeed wildly working from home, while others plod along at whatever level they are happy with. Talent will out, so find something you really want to do and then do it well. It's very satisfying, and making your own money is a great ego boost.
